I am a Chmelar through marriage. My husbands family are Chmelar's. I am doing research on their side of the family. I have some info. I would appreiate any help you could give me on any one you could. I am expecially interested in Frank Chmelar who would have come to the US around 1906 about the age of 8 years. He was born 12-10-1898. He married Cecila Knesek (10-19-1901 BD) on 8-2-1921. His father and mother weree John Chmelar and Marie Spata. This is all I have so far. If there is anyone who can help me I would be very grateful. Thanks so much.

Susie

My grandmother Anna Frances Chmelar' was born in 1863 and in 1884 immigrated alone to Galveston, Texas. Anna was the only daughter of her parents (names not known). In addition to Anna they had 4 sons (names not known) . With more information, your ancestor might be a descendant of one. Any connection? What was the departure and arrival location of your ancestor?

I have an Andre Chmeliar born about 1852 whose father was possibly Jan. Andre had a son, Andrew, b. 1878 who immigrated to America and changed his name to Miller. Do any of these people sound familiar or maybe related to your Chmeliars. Let me know. Thanks.

I am not sure that these are the same family. My family's last name is spelled Chmelar...yours is spelled differently. Unless, somewhere down the line they changed the spelling, but I never have heard that. My grandfather came here when he was 10 from Bohemia in or around 1908-1910. If you think there is some connection, please let me know. Thanks
