Hi Beth, Just saw your message..my husband is adopted by the Chladek family in PA. His dad's, Aloysius John, ss application says his father's name is Martin and he lived in OH when applying for it. They too are Chech so they may be related. Maybe we can keep in touch and see if the two meet up. I have just sent off for his dad's death certificate so maybe it will shed some light. Let me know if I can help. Danielle

My father was Polish Tadeusz Chladek and he settled in Scotland in 1942. I am retired and now commute between England and California.
I believe my great grandfather was a freeman of Kracow. Any other information welcome.

My great grandfather was Stanley Kusmisz, who came from Poland with my great grandmother, Irene Novak. I know Stanley had a brother who emigrated to the Chicago area, whilst Stanley and Irene were in the Cleveland area, but I do not know about a female Kusmisz. I just found it unusual you had one posted since Kusmisz is an unusual surname.

Was your grandfather a musician by any chance? A drummer, specifically? My father played in a band in the 50's and early 60's with an Emil Chladek in Detroit.
