LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON CAMILE CHABERT. CAMILE IMMIGRATED TO THE LAFOLLETTE AND JELLICO TN AREA SOMETIME BEFORE 1885, FROM FRANCE. HE MARRIED ROSIE SILLARETTE, ALSO FROM FRANCE. THEY HAD AT LEAST TWO DAUGHTERS THAT I AM AWARE OF. THEIR NAMES WERE FREDA AND MARY KATHERINE CHABERT.

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE IN FRANCE, THAT THIS FAMILY'S NAME ORIGINATES FROM? ANY HELP WOULD BE A BEGINNING TO START MY SEARCH.

THANKS, TERESA

Camile Chabert was my great grandfather and I believe the two women you are searching for information about were two of my grandfather's sisters. We should communicate and swap info as I have been looking for links for the sisters. I have already located the brother's grandchildren. Rosie was born in Paris and Camile was also from France. I also have a picture of Camile taken in Jellico, TN. If you have not found info on Rosie, I believe that the spelling of the last name in incorrect. Please contact me and we can help each other in this search.
Thanks

EMILY,
THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY MESSAGE. CAMILE IS MY CHILDREN'S GGGRANDFATHER AND MY GRANDSON'S GGGGRANDFATHER. MARY KATHERINE WAS BORN 12/30/1885, IN WOOLRIDGE,TN AND DIED ON 3/17/1975, IN PIQUA, OH. MARY KATHERINE MARRIED GEORGE BENTON HUTSON, BORN 10/21/1883 IN BRAZIL, IN AND DIED 12/25/1936 IN THE JELLICO AREA. BOTH ARE BURIED IN THE JELLICO CEMETERY WITH THE HUTSON FAMILY.
MARY AND GEORGE HAD FOURTEEN CHILDREN, SIX DAUGHTERS AND EIGHT SONS. THREE OF THE CHILDREN ARE STILL LIVING. THEY ARE ROSCOE AGE 82, HOMER AGE 78 AND LOUISE AGE 73.

MARY KATHERINE WAS A LOVING MOTHER, A WONDERFUL WIFE AND A VERY STRONG WOMAN! HER SISTER, FREDA WAS THE ONLY ONE OF THE FAMILY THAT VISITED WITH HER AND HER FAMILY. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON HER. WE JUST KNOW THAT HER AND MARY KATHERINE WERE CLOSE.

IF YOU WANT TO CORRESPOND WITH MARY KATHERINE'S SON ROSCOE, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL SEND YOU HIS ADDRESS. HE WOULD LOVE TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT HIS MOTHER.

I LOOKED THROUGH OUR NOTES ON MARY KATHERINE AND FOUND ANOTHER SPELLING FOR ROSIE. IT IS SPELLED SELLORETTE. IS THIS THE RIGHT ONE. IF NOT PLEASE SEND ME THE CORRECT SPELLING. I WOULD ALSO LOVE TO HAVE A COPY OF CAMILE FOR OUR FAMILY ALBUM. I WILL SEND YOU A SCAN OF ROSCOE. HE LOOKS JUST LIKE HIS MOTHER.

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. I WILL SEND YOU MORE AS I COME ACROSS IT. TERESA

Thank you for replying so promptly. I just began to research my family this summer after going through a picture box that my mother had kept. She and any others with information, unfortunately, have passed away. I would certainly love to correspond with Roscoe or any others in the family. I do hope this is the correct branch; however, the facts match to well to be coincidence. My great grandfather Camile was born in France and passed away in Whitley County, Ky in 1919. Rosie was from Paris. I am not completely sure of the correct spelling of her last name but do know that it has a "y" in it. They had (according to my mother) 14 children. Three of these were boys - my grandfather Casimer Phillip Chabert who left home at age 14 and ended up in Oakman, Alabama. Another brother Charles also left home early and went west for the gold rush. I have recently found his grandson in Oregon and am corresponding with him. Like me, he has had no luck in finding information on any of the sisters. The other brother, Louis, lived with the family in Ohio then moved to Jellico, TN where he had two children, Cecilia and Harriette. He later moved to Alabama to be with Casimere for a short time then moved to Covington, Ky and remained there until his death in 1957.

My grandfather (Casimere) passed away in 1932 and his death certificate (with the names of his mother and father) was filled in by a woman from Williamsburg, Kentucky - her signature is blurry, but it looks like Mrs. J. P. Conley (does that name mean anything to you). Williamsburg is in Whitley County, Ky, so I am sort of assuming that this was one of the daughters that Camile was living with before his death.

The picture that I have of Camile is one of those old types that was actually done as a post card and the address on the back is "to all my brothers and sisters" and the signature looks like Jenny so I assume this was another of the sisters. I will try to scan it and email it to you if you would like, however, it is so faded that I might need to mail it directly.

As you can tell, all my information is rather sketchy, so perhaps corresponding (or even speaking to one the the surviving relatives like Rosco could be helpful in determining more about this family.

Thanks for your help.
Emily

Emily,
Good morning! Camile and Rosie are both buried in the Catholic Cemetery on a hill over looking the town of Jellico, TN. I have been to their graves but do not know if their are other family members buried there.
We are taking the spelling of Rosie's maiden name from Mary Katherine's Bible. She was the only one of the children that was born here in the USA. She was the youngest of the children. Mary Katherine had to speak french at home but spoke english when not with her parents.
Roscoe's address is: Roscoe B. Hutson
PO Box 263
Bronson, FL 32631

I will give you his phone number:352-486-4423 , but remember that his hearing is somewhat effected by his age, so if you call him talk louder than usual. Ross is a very special man and you will like him a lot. He is still clear on all of his family history. He is very excited to speak with you.

I will be gathering more info on this family. I have also just started on the Chabert research. Probably together with the remaining members of the family we can locate a lot of info. I am always working on our different family histories. I do a lot of genealogy work. We will find the info on this family! Thanks, Teresa

Thank you for the telephone number. I plan on trying to contact Roscoe today. I am very excited to speak with him also. If I send him the information that I have gathered (there are to many documents to try and post here), will he be able to get them to you? Since you plan on doing research on the family, there will only be time wasted for us to go down the same roads. Although I regret having no pictures of the family as a whole, I do have the one of Camile that I mentioned and also a few of the boys and their families that I will send copies of. I am currently in the process of organizing all my info (I have way to many single sheets of paper with scribbles on them) and plan on sending them to Charles' (one of the 3 brothers) grandson for his research also.

Please let me know if you have any pictures that might be included in my family album.

Looking forward to finding all the members of this family.
Emily

I'd love to swap information on this family. While I don't have any information on their descendants or Camille's ancestors, "Rosie" was my gg-grandfather's sister.

Rosine Henrietta Souleiret was born on 12 May 1843 in Portes, France to Casimir Souleret and Genevieve Rose Arcellier. Genevieve Arcellier died on Jan 10, 1848, 5 days after her 5th child was born. Of the 5 children, only 2 survived to adulthood, Rosine and my gg-grandfather Jerome Casimir Souleyret.

Casimir Souleret remarried later that same year (1848) to Rosine Dalhe (or Daille), and they had 7 children. They traveled to the US sometime between 1864 and 1870 (I think I have an exact date somewhere).

Jerome Casimir Souleyret married Pauline Monique Reboul married on 20 March 1867 in Besseges, France. They traveled to the US about 1868, first settling in the PA area, then moving to Illinois, finally settling in Kentucky in the Pulaski County area. They had 14 children, and I have contact information on almost all of their descendants.

I also have information on Rosine & Jerome's half-siblings and their descendants if you're interested, as well as a couple of generations back on Casimir Souleret.

We've found 4 different spellings of the family name - Souleiret (the original spelling), Souleret, Souleyret, and Souleyrette. The spellings were many times used interchangably, and I know that the last 3 spellings still survive.
