Jacob Cewe, Sr. aged 73 years and 7 months died at his residence at Dakota, Minn., on Sunday evening at 5:30 after a prolonged illness of paralysis. Mr. Cewe was born in Illinois on December 5, 1845. After serving his country in the civil war, he came to Minnesota and settled on a farm in Winona County in 1866. In 1870 he married Miss Lena Beach, who survives him. He also leaves seven children, Jacob Cewe Jr., Mrs. Sarah Murray, John Cewe, Mrs. J. W. Donehower, and Mrs. Alice Purdy, all of Dakota, Minnesota, and Mrs. Otto Allers of Northfield, Minn., and Mrs. W. W. Cameron of LaCrosse. Mr. Cewe has lived a retired life at his Minnesota home for the past twenty-one years. He was a member of the Morning Star lodge, No. 29, F. and A.M. of LaCrescent. The services will be held from the Episcopal Church in Dakota on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. and interment will be made in the Dakota cemetery. The Masons will have charge of the services at the grove.
