Looking for information on grandmothers siblings.
They all emigrated to Brazil. They are originally
from Calabria, Italy. Their names are Joseph, Louige,Mariano,
Alfonso, and Maria Cesario. I think they went in or around
Rio de Janiero.

Sorry it's taken so long to respond to you. I didn't know you responded to my post so long ago.

My Cesario's came from Luzzi, Cosenza, Calabria. I know there are a ton of Cesarios from San Fili. Presently, I don't know if they're related to me but never say never. :-)

Would love to hear from you, if you get this email.

Sincerely,

Donna Di Giacomo

I don't think I can give you much information about the Cesarios in S.America but I do remember my g-uncle Carmine Cesario showing me a letter from there. He asked if I could read it. Then he told me it was in Portugese and it was from his mother's foster children. His mother was Philomenia Pelligrino from Rende who was married to Antonio Cesario. Antonio went to S.America and stayed for 9 years. He got very sick there and finally returned to Italy. In 1888 they came to Chicago with their two children Angelina and Salvatore. Carmine was born in Chicago in 1895.
The letter from S.Amer. was asking for any clothing we could spare. WW2 had brought a lot of hardship to the people and clothing was very hard to get. They would take anything because they could exchange with others. I don't remember for sure but I think one name was Maria. We did send a large box and I remember putting some of my dresses in the box.
