My grandfather Salvatore was born in San Fili in 1886. His parents were Antonio b. in San Fili and Philomena Pellegrino, b. in Rinde 1857. Married 1872 in San Fili. They came to Chicago in 1889 with daughter Angelina who was about 9 years older than Salvatore and had Carmine in Chicago in 1896. Antonio had spent some time in Brazil and may have had children there because I remember my g-aunt sending packages to them after WW2. In Chicago 1910 Salvatore married Rose DiMatteo and had Earl, Florence, Eleanor, Violet and Frances. When Rose died in 1918 he married again and had Lucille. Antonio and Philomena both died in 1930 on the same day, May 23. I am interested in any other family of Antonio, Philomena and info about family in Brazil. Antonio was related to the Chesrow family, cousins, who became prominent in Chicago. Drs. Eugene, Albert and Richard. Frank, who was a papal knight and David, a lawyer. Philomena was the daughter of Luigi who owned land in Rinde. Interested in her family history too.

I'm not sure if this is the same family. My grandfather was Francesco Cesario. I think he was born in Naples, Italy around the 1880's and died in Chicago in the 1920's or 30's. He is buried in Mt Carmel or Mt. Olivet Cemetary. I remember being told Al Capone was also buried there. He was married to Mary Leicht (Interment @ Ridgewood Cemetary). They divorced and their sons were put in Angel Guardian Orphanage in Chicago (except the youngest, Michael, who lived with an aunt). They had 4 sons; Alfred who died in 1975 (Ridgewood Cemetary), Arthur (my father) who died in 1990 (Mary Hill Cemetary), William (living in Chicago) and Michael (living in Chicago). Our surname was originally Cesario, but my father's army records say "CHESRO" and by the time he married all the brothers were going by CHESROW. I remember the prestigious doctor in Chicago, but was told we weren't related. Coincidence? Cesario to Chesrow...same city, etc.? Not sure, but I thought you'd like the info.

I am not sure if we might be related somewhere way back, but Dr. Eugene Chesrow was the a first cousin to my grandfather. My grandfather was born in San Fili near Salerno and Came to this country in 1898. He was just 3 or 4 at the time. He was a good friend of Mr. Salerno who started the Salerno Bakery. My grandfather never changed his name to Chesrow although his brother did. I remember all the Chesrow brothers, they were all professional men. One was a lawyer, one a dentist, another a pharmasist and trustee of the Chicago Sanitary District and there was also another brother who was a doctor but not as famous/infamous as Eugene. In fact Eugene was the doctor who brought me into the world. It was nice hearing form you and I am sure we all belong to the same family somewhere along the line. Italian families tended to be very large.

to Diane, I am Eugene Chesrow sr's grandaughter. I was searching our name on the web when I came across your message. If you have any family history written up I would love to share. My father, Eugene Chesrow jr is still alive and remembers alot of the old family connections. Let me know, Alexis Chesrow

Alexis, I'm not sure if we are from the same Chesrow lineage or not, but I'm sure there is a connection somewhere way back. My grandfather was Francesco Cesario and was born in the 1880's (I think) and immigrated to Chicago from somewhere near Naples, Italy. He and my grandmother had four sons, Alfred, Arthur (my Dad), William and Michael (Dominick)...they have all passed away. I know my grandfather is buried in the same cemetary as Al Capone..I remember seeing his grave when I was little. And I remember that my grandfather's gravestone has his picture on it.
I know there were some well known Chesrow's in the Chicago area, but my Mom didn't think we were related to them....who knows? Thanks for responding to my post. If you need any more info I'll try to dig it up for you.

My GGrand Father is Luciano Cesario born 1892 in San Fili (Bucita to be exact) -- His Father Riccardo Cesario was born in 1857. Not sure if there is a connection there but would be curious to find out if there was. Riccardo came to the US on 6 seperate occassions, His son Luciano in (1906) remained in the US and settled in Grand Junction - Colorado. He married Mary Capino and they had 12 children.

I am also related to the Chesrow family. My grandfather was born in SanFili 3/4/1875 died in Williamsport Pa. 12/1958. His mother was Conceta Sammarco her father had a brother who went to South America. I would be related through Mrs. Chesrow who was part of the Sammarco family.

To: Alexis Chesrow
Several years ago, after the death of my adoptive parents, I found papers showing that my biological father was the late David Chesrow of Chicago, Illinois. I grew up unaware that I was adopted. I was born at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago on June 21, 1957.
I am interested in finding out about the life of David Chesrow. I am interested in knowing if I look like him, medical background, and his personality. I visit the Queen Of Heaven Mauseleum in Hillside, Illinois quite frequently. I would also cherish the opportunity to meet any cousins that I might have.
Please contact me if you can help me. Thanking you in advance. John R. Melus
