Hello Danny;

I realize its a long time later, but I am just following up on leads. Would you still have any information on the Cerros or Curriers? I can be reached at Robert.Cerro@hofstra.edu

With Kind Regards...

Rob

Carol,

Mary Cerro was my aunt. Due to the sensitive nature of your inquiry, I would appreciate it if you were to correspond directly with me rather than on this bulletin board.
I realize this is an old posting, but it definitely seems to be the family I am helping a friend research. Her mother was Mary Cerro, daughter of Henry Gregory Cerro and Nellie Cecilia Currier. We know very little about Mary, other than she was born 11 Jan 1927 and died 5 Sep 2004 in Manorville, Suffolk, NY. I requested her obituary from the Suffolk County library system, but they never responded. My friend was given up for adoption and would like to know more about her birth family and whether she has/had any siblings. Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

My grandfather was born Gregorio Enrique Cerro y Alberde. According to his Spanish birth certificate, of which I have a copy, he was born on 25 April 1889 in Santander, Spain. He was the son of Don Dionisio del Cerro and Dona Micaela Alberde. On the paternal side, he was the grandson of Don Joaquin del Cerro and Dona Paula Cantolla; and, on the maternal side, he was the grandson of Don Jose Maria Alverde and Dona Luisa Chaves.

After his arrival in America, he settled in Montpelier, Vt, where he worked as a stone mason in the granite industry. He married my grandmother on 29 April 1908. Apparently, back then the authorities had a rather cavalier attitude regarding the recording of names. My grandmother's name is listed as Helen Currier on the copy of their marriage certificate, as Militia Helena Currier on her baptism certificate, and as Nellie Cecilia Currier on her daughter's (my Aunt Eleanor) birth certificate.

Kathryn Vogel, who responded to some of your e-mails, is my beautiful niece.

Apparently, there is some familial relation between your family and ours. I would be interested in pursuing this.

Respectfully,

Russell Cerro
Norfolk, VA

Yes, If we are speaking of the same person, Danisio, A.K.A. Dennis Cerro, was the son of Gregorio Enrique, A.K.A. Henry Gregory Cerro, b. 4/29/1889 in Santander, Spain, d. 8/13/1951, in Brooklyn, N.Y. , but is burried in Montpelier, Vermont. He was married to Ellen Currier. This information was obtained from a combination of Henry's Birth Registry, his Marriage License, his burial permit, his obit, and other tidbits, including family members. This is my husbands side of the family. Are you related?

Wanda
Yes, Ellen Currier is my great-grandmother. She had 11 children with him, one of whom, Henry Peter, is my grandfather. He was born in 1918 in the house on Berlin St. in Montpelier, and currently lives in Queens.

Married Marcia Abveroe (not sure if the "O" is really an "O"). Their daughter(born 10/17/1893) married Leo Bedia and came to the U.S. and settled around the Boston Area.
