My grandmother was Carmela Statuto-I know she had many brothers including a Nicholas & Teodosio. I believe they settled in NYC early in the 1900's. She also had nephews in NYC area Carl & Nicholas Statuto. She came to US in 1928 after my grandfather Mike MOnetta (a Cobbler) imigrated in 1922. Settled in New Hampshire. I'll do some research for more info on her backround & other names of her brothers & sisters. She was quite a lady-passed away about 2 years ago at 100 years of age.

I am very familiar with the Pietragalese paisons. All the names listed by you are very familiar to me. My parents were contemporary "paisons" in Brooklyn. Ted the Tailor's wife Maria was my late brother's godmother.
I was hosted by Ted and Maria in 1950 when my parents took a first return to Italy.
Get back to me. We/I have a lot to share!

My great grandmother Maria Luigi (?) was married to a Monetta and upon his death married a Grippo (best friends) from Pietragalla.

She had Paulo and Salvatore with Monetta and Teodosia, Michael, Carmela and Lewis with Grippo.

Does anyone have any fill in info for me?

It appears there is a relationship between all these families. My great grandmother was married to a Grippo then married his cousin a Monetta who was a shoemaker (cobbler). They lived in Schenectady NY. The Ceraldi and Stattuto names I heard while growing up in the house.

I think I might have a connection to you. Are your Pafundi and DeBonis relatives from Troy, NY? I believe that the Pafundi's and DeBonis' are cousins on my grandmother's side of the family. My grand parents were from Potenza, Italy. My grandmother's maiden name was Grippo and her mother's maiden name was Stattuti.

My great-grandmother's maiden name was Stattuti. She never left Italy. My grandparents settled in Troy, NY. It is my understanding that we didn't have any relatives in Schenectady.

What are your relatives first names? I came across the name Pafundi on my greatgrandmothers immigration papers. Grippo, Pafundi and Statuto and Monetta are are related in one way or another. My greatgrandmother and her family were from Pietragalla, Potenza, Italy.
