Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
Hi, My great-grandfather was Roland Cephas (we affectionately called him "Pop Roll")born in 1889. He was married to Mary (formerly Hubbard)my great-grandmother, affectionately known as "Mom Mary." She was born in 1894. They had Pauline (my grandmother, born in 1914) Roland Jr., Mabel, James, Anne. There are a few other siblings whose names escape me at the moment. You may be referring to Roland Sr. who as I mentioned was married to Mary, they all remained in Hurlock until their deaths, it was my grandmother Pauline who was the first to come to Philadelphia and Roland Jr. followed his big sister, I don't remember his wife's name, they're all deceased.

Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
This post is probably much too old however I will give it a whirl. I am gathering information about the Cephas family. Your grandmother, Pauline, was my mother's oldest sister. My mom is 90 years old and still remembers a great deal of the family history. Since retiring, I have decided to investigate the family history and have captured quite a bit of information thus far. My family tree is Cephas/Camper.

Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
Hello, Whose your mother? Is it Lottie, or Ann? My mother is Jeanette, Pauline's oldest living daughter, and your first cousin.
John.

Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
I actually meant to ask if you were Lottie or Mildred's daughter, I know you can't be Ann's daughter, because she only has one (Rosalind) :-)

Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
I am Lottie's oldest daughter. I am retired and living in Georgia. With a great deal of time on my hands now, I need to find projects that are challenging. My mom and I are having a great time with the memories. She gives me bits and pieces every day. I plan to visit the court house in Dorchester and Caroline counties this summer. My younger sister, Tonya, and I will venture in the old official records and see what we uncover.
Hope to meet you soon.

Re: Cephas Clan In Philadelphia
Thank you Cousin Constance, I look forward to meeting you as well. Congratulations on your retirement!! My eldest sister Dana has recently retired last year from 20 years as a Social Studies Teacher in Philadelphia, she relocated to Charlotte in August and is now attending Law School. I am an educator as well, I teach at two colleges in Philadelphia. Let us know when you're planning to go to Dorchester to view the files, and maybe Dana and I can join you, as we are the "griots" for this part of the Cephas-Camper clan.
Best,
John.
