The Cephas Clan of Washington DC
There are a lot of us in Washington DC. My grandfather is Elton A. Cephas, who married my grandma Irene Butler (Cephas). Elton A. Cephas had sisters as well...but I don't know all their names. I only really knew my aunt Anna and she died in like 2000. My uncle was Elton A. Cephas Jr, aunts Elizabeth, Cynthia, Kelli and my mom Bernetta Cephas. Now all of us grandkids are in our 20's. There's me, Keyania Shavon, Larry Elton, Chantel, Brittany, Steven Allen, Duyania, Shanice, Cynthia, Antonio Nathaniel, Anthony Alphonzo, Michael Dennis, Tawanda Monet, and even a great grandchild, Kaiya Tameka. But I know nothing past my grandfather's history. Cephas is rare and people always ask me the origin. Are any of you out there.

Re: The Cephas Clan of Washington DC
Hello,
Cephas is extremely rare, especially in the West Coast. I have lived in California the majority of my life and never have come across another Cephas. I don't know much about my father's family. His birth name is John Edward Cephas and is was born in the Philly area in 1934. He had a brother named Harold Cephas who was about 20 years his senior, he passed many years ago. He had quite a few children.Because of the vast age difference between my father and Uncle Harold, his children (our cousins) would probably be closer to my father's age our second cousins would be more in our (my siblings and I) age gap. Unfortunately, I don't know anything else. Good luck to the both of us in finding anything out!!!

Re: The Cephas Clan of Washington DC
My mothers maiden name was Cephas & her family was from Dorchester county, MD. I have an Uncle named Elton Cephas who lives in Fork Neck, MD & an aunt named Shirley ( Cephas ) Butler who resides in Ft. Washington, MD. They had 13 brothers & sisters & their parents were Josiah Cephas & Hattie Cephas. I too have been eagerly trying to find information about the Cephas family. If you get this message feel free to seek me out on Facebook. Just search for Jaron Camp.

Re: The Cephas Clan of Washington DC
Jaron, this is strange. My grandmother's name was Shirley Irene Butler, then she married my granfather Elton Cephas. They had five children, Bernetta (my mom), Cynthia, Elton Jr., Elizabeth, and Kelli. My grandfather also had an older daughter named Deborah Cephas before he married my grandma. They then divorced and he married a woman named Barbara. So, I think you are family. My grandparents have passed away. My grandmother Shirley (whom was called Irene) died July 05, 2012. My grandfather October 19, 2010.
