I want to know more about the Cepeda name.
My son is a Cepeda, I am married to a Cepeda whose family originated from Durango Mexico. My husbands father is one of 14 and the same for my husbands mother. I have done some extensive research and have a lot of documents of the origin of the Cepeda name. The Cepedas are decendents of St. Teresa Ahumada De Cepeda of Avia Spain who founded the carmelite nuns.
She was one of 10 children. four of her brothers came to Mexico and the Americas as Conquistadors during the Spanish Inquisition. A few chose to remain here and marry native indians of Mexico. You are a decendent of a Saint if you want more information email me I have more for you.

Re: I want to know more about the Cepeda name.
Joy,
Obviously, I am a Cepeda... from Durango, Mexico. Specifically from a little village named La Purisima. This is the first time I inquire/research into my name and am very interested to find out what you have found. My Dad (Ramon Cepeda also) is from there as was his father Juan Cepeda. Any information would be appreciated.

Re: I want to know more about the Cepeda name.
My maternal Grand Father was Don Eustacio Cepeda for who a branch library is named in Austin, Texas. My Grand Ma Victoria Pacheco Cepeda, was previously widowed and remarried to him. They were exiled from Mexico in the 1920s with their children Simon, Aurora (Dora) and I believe step children Frances and son or other relative Jose Pacheco and Jose Arizola. they entered the U.S. possibly at Browsnville, Texas, lived and worked in East Texas and settled in Austin where they and Simon, Aurora Herrera (my Mom), Jose Pacheco & Frances, Ledesma (married name) passed away. Jose Arizola passed in San Antonio, Texas. I also wish to know about the Cepeda name and have just begun research. Would love to hear from you, John Herrerra

Re: I want to know more about the Cepeda name.
Hi, I recently started doing research on the Cepeda surname which was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. I have some information but am very interested on getting as much info as I can. My grandma's name was Dora Cepeda, Daughter of Juan and Nicolasa E. Cepeda. Some of her siblings names: Paula, Elisa, Ysmael/Ismael and most of them lived in Texas: san antionio, crystal city and monterrey, mexico. My grandmother was born in Lockhart, Tx in 1919. she was raised in both Lockhart and in El Moral, Tamaulipas, MX where her grandparents resided(not sure if they were Cepeda, or perhaps her maternal grandparents). In case they were Cepeda's, her grandfather's name was Santiago. I think my grandmother had other relatives in Coahuila because she would mention going to piedras negras, and rosita(nueva rosita). I remember my grandmother telling me that one of her grandfathers was from Spain. She always emphasized he had blonde hair and blue eyes. Which explains the European features in all her children(colored eyes)If anyone can help me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it.
