Margaret J. “Peggy” McDonald, 74, of Old Route 18, Wampum, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at her residence following a short illness. She was surrounded by her family.Born March 19, 1934, in Darlington, she was the daughter of the late Louis C. and Marie Cendroski Gishbaugher.She was married on Dec. 23, 1950, to Robert G. McDonald, who died Oct. 15, 2008.Peggy was an active member of the Clinton United Methodist Church.She was a member of the Wampum Women’s Club, where she held various offices. She was also a member of the Wampum Christmas Parade Committee, where she portrayed Mrs. Santa for 28 years. She was the judge of elections for New Beaver Borough for many years.Peg enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to New York City and Cape Cod.Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Marie and Dean Alben, Wampum, Debbie and Dave Affagato, Bessemer, and Chris and Barry Allen, Shenango Township; and one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Diana McDonald, Wampum.She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Brenda McDonald, Johanna and Paul McQuiston, Vanessa and Eric Bayless, Heather and Jim Gardner, Bryan Affagato, Nicole Allen, Ashley Allen, Adam McDonald and Bobby McDonald; three great-grandchildren: Samantha, Madison and Jonathon McDonald; a sister and brother-in-law, Rhetta and Dan Barkey, Big Beaver Borough; three nieces; and two nephews.Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her eldest son, Robert Gene McDonald in 1995; and a brother, Donald C. Gishbaugher.Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Main Street, Wampum. Friends also will be received at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The Rev. Gary Smith of the College Hill Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
