i have some more info about my family the, Celaya family. the name originated in spain, in fact there is a valley in spain named celaya. in the valley live a group of people, or a clan if you will, called the basques. they are a mixture of spanish and another but i can't recall which other. the name Celaya in spanish means "beautiful valley." in fact my great grand father would be of the royal family, of Celaya, if he had not married out of the line. Celaya is the original way to spell it, and the others are braches from it. the reason being, because the valley Celaya is not really part of spain, but more than an area where no one travels to, due to the high altitudes. if anyone has any questions about the Celaya family line please ask me, my church does extensive family history and my family has been able to trace their family line back to the dark ages and then some.

I am a Celaya

Please, I am looking for any information on Celaya, which is a Basque name now, but is a arabic derrivative name. The Celaya's are not originally from Spain they migrated there. They are a very very large family who had arranged marriages and because they were Soilders of Fortune (or Mersenaries as others called them)they were given women of light-skinned only to marry as payment with gold, etc... Their travel are far into the middleeast, former soviet union, the baltic, the orient, carribean, south/central americas, america, canada, scandinavian, nortic, etc... The Basque do not originate in Spain they just appearred there as the Romans Stated in the 12th century. There has been recent archeology studies on the language as well as their ethnic background, spain has them listed as asian-minors. However, they are caucasion of color. Please if you could send me any info you have I would be appreciative. Thank you very much.

common info.

My late mother, Aurora Telles Celaya de Robles, was from Florence, Arizona, had 8 brothers sisters. Her father, Concepcion Beltran
"Chono" Celaya's family was from Altar District, Sonora, Mexico have been traced to the mid-1700s involved in cattle ranching there,
as well as in southern Arizona thru the 1800s early-1900s. Would you have any idea of when the earliest Celaya's/Selaya's
arrived in Altar District, Sonora, Mexico? I think the Celaya's were here around 1570 after the Spanish Entrada into Mexico
because there is a large city of 500,000 people today in Ciudad Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico---probably named after the Celaya's (A Celaya was a conquistador with Cortez then).

Hi my name is Tom. I live in Washington State. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona until I joined the navy. I saw your message and I asked my father if there was any Celayas in Atil. He said that there were many Celayas and that we were realted by way of the Gonzales families. My father recalls that a Celaya went to Az in the 1920's but I dont' remember his name. I have been to Atil back in 1978. I want to go again and take my kids. I know that we are related to the Figuoroas, Chamarros. My father told me a story that was passed down to him. My father said that the Reynas, and a few other families came to the Sonora area from Nuevo Leon. I hope this helps. Maybe you have some information that may help me. Take care Tom

Hello,

My name is Grecia Elizabeth Celaya, and I would like to trace my family name. My grandfather Jimmy Celaya, had a mother by the name of Elizabeth Holl. Her father;s name was Thomas Holl, and she later married Jesus Celaya. I would like to trace these last names down, since I do not completely know the rest of my relatives. All I know is that My Great-Great -Great-Grandfather Thomas Holl, came from Ireland.
