Hello,
My husband is the great grandson of Jose Santos Zelaya. His grandmother was Brigida Perez. Jose and Brigida had 3 children: Enriquetta Zelaya (Guerrero), Carlos Alfonso Zelaya (a/k/a Don Alfonso Zelaya) an internationally known pianist and actor, and Santos Zelaya Hijo who died in Nicaragua at the age of 18. In 1924 Brigida, her daughter Enriquetta Zelaya Guerrero and 6 of Enriquetta's 7 children came to New Orleans, Lousiana. Enriquetta's oldest child, Marie Esmerelda Renasco along with her husband, Jose Anthony Renasco and their children, stayed in Managua, Nicaragua.
I am working on a Family Tree for Jose Santos Zelaya and would like to share information with you.
Thanks, Jean O. Turner, Metairie, Louisiana

My husband is the great-grandson of Jose Santos Zelaya. We visited Nicaragua from 12/29/11 through 01/10/12. We met with Graciela Zelaya, niece of Ana Zelaya (her father was Jose Santos Zelaya, son of the president, and brother of Ana). I would like to share information with you. Please respond.

Re: Jose Santos Zelaya family tree
Hi Roger, i have just now discovered the message board! I am working on the Honduran end of the Zelaya family, which is complex with patterns of divorces and intermarriages. However your posts indicate you may have vast knowledge on earlier history than what we have sofar. I would be very interested to peek at what you have going back to those initial 5 brothers in Olancho. also i found this post somewhere else: Según me han contado mis tíos, los que llegaron a Centro América de apellido Zelaya se ubico uno en Olancho otro en Ojojona y el tercero en Nicaragua. de nombre Diego Rafael Zelaya y David Zelaya el tercero no se el nombre. --naming three, Diego Rafael and David in Honduras and the third going to Nicaragua, but did not know the name. thanks

Re: starting point for selaya..celaya
Hi,
I'm looking for my father's family in Altar/Santa Ana area and have been looking in the hand-written Registro Civil for the past few weeks. I've been copying names and information for the years 1882, 1883, and 1884, and have found quite a few Selayas among others. Let me know if you're interested and I'll share my spreadsheet with you.
