FRAMINGHAM, MASS. – Helen L. (Ceglie) Higgins, 88, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 after a courageous four year battle with cardiovascular illnesses.

She was the wife of 50 years to the late Atty. Richard J. Higgins, who died in October of 2001.
Prior to her marriage in May 1952, Helen was a well known musician and soprano in her home State of Ohio.
She performed with the Cleveland Opera Company and the Youngstown Symphony, as well as in concert and on the radio.
She had many recordings as well, including several with her brother, the late Patrick Ceglie, a noted violinist with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Higgins was employed for 30 years with Honeywell Corporation, where she was honored, among other things, for saving the life of a choking co-worker in the company cafeteria.

She leaves her four children, Dr. Paula M. Higgins of London, England, Richard J. Higgins Jr. and his wife, Rebecca of Sarasota, Fla., Kevin J. Higgins of Santa Fe, N.M. and Thomas J. Higgins and his fianceé, (her beloved friend) Mary-Kathleen Deloge of Framingham, with whom she lived during her illness.
She also leaves her three grandchildren, Christin Higgins of Orlando, Fla., Sarah Higgins of Boston, and Jesse Higgins-Giulianni of England.
Mrs. Higgins also leaves many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also sister of the late Patrick Ceglie, Leonard Ceglie, William Ceglie, and Lucille Poutot.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 26, 2012, at St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham.
Burial took place at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Framingham.
