I too have been trying to uncover the ancestry of Antoinette Cefalu. There seem to be several around the same time period, and I'm working entirely from the records as my grandmother doesn't remember the names for sure. My grandmother, who is still alive, is the great-grandaughter of Paul and Antoinette, and we are hoping to take a trip to Italy next summer to visit the area our Italian family hailed from.
I've concluded that there was an Antoinette Cefalu (b. 20 Mar 1852) who married Paul Guarnieri. He was born in Italy about 1845, but according to the 1910 and 1900 Census records Antoinette was born in Louisiana while both her parents came from Italy.
I have not been able to find any indication of who Antoinette's parents were. I was excited to see your tree indicating Dominick Cefalu as her father, but I can't turn up any records that indicate this, and his children are clearly listed on several census reports as Giovanni, Victor, Johanna, Lucy, Rosa, and Salvador. Could Antoinette have possibly been a middle name of one of Dominick's girls? I'm hoping you might have further information.
Although both Antoinette and Dominick are common names for the period, there does seem to be a connection between Antoinette Cefalu and Dominick Cefalu, as she named her first son Dominick and her husband Paul is listed as a fruit merchant - perhaps he was working in the D. Cefalu and Sons company which imported fruit from Italy and elsewhere to New Orleans.
In any case, I'd love to hear any tidbits you might have discovered.
Thanks!
