I set up this board in hopes of finding my
relatives and knowledge of my ancestors.
I am in Texas, but was born raised around
Pittsburgh, Pa. My grandparents (Salvatore
Cefala and Carmela Cimino Cefala) came to
the states around 1917 from Sambiase,
Calabria, Italy. Would love correspondence
from anyone with information about the
Cefalas.

My name is Joe Cefala and I am from Australia. My origins are from Nicastro, CZ and I was searching for family history and I came across your entry on the Italian genealogy website. My father tells me that his origins are from Sambiase and his grandfather, Francesco Cefala, who migrated to Detroit, Michigan and he died before being able to return to Italy. He also had a nephew who migrated to America, his name was Luigi Cefala. They both migrated to America from 1880-1898. There is a chance that we may even be related. I would be very interested in any information you can offer. I await your reply with great anticipation

Dear Joe, Sorry that I hadn't looked here for a very long time. I am thrilled to hear about your branch of the Cefalas and look forward to corresponding with you about our common heritage. Perhaps together we can piece together some of the missing pieces of the puzzle.

I just wrote you an extensive email and look forward to your reply to my email account.
Sincerely,
Carol Cefala Huntley

I'm in the dark about the Cefala roots than you. I'll ask my dad. But I do know that grampa, who died before I was born, was born also in Calabria and came to the states as a youngster in the twenties with his family. They were from the Calabria region like your relatives. His name was Joseph (Giuseppe ? again I don't know) and he married Vera Bongiorno in Chicago in the early thirties. Reply and I'll try to get you the details on (anything I can find out about) Cefalas in Italy. That's all for now,Ed

Hello Carol,
I hope you get this message. My paternal greatgrandmother was a Cefala from Sambiase and I also live in Texas. My paternal grandmother was Caterina Trombetta married to Francesco DeLuca.
I don't know much about my paternal grandmothers side but would love to learn more. I know we have relatives all over the world.
