My Christina Cedergren, born 1757, lived at Gardby, on the island of Oland, Sweden. But where was she born? Monstrose perhaps? Would enjoy hearing from any Cedergren descendants, especially any with ancestry from that general area.

Our family is looking for living descendants of our ancestors who lived in Monsteras and the Kalmar province of Sweden. My great great grandfather, Jonas Peter Cedergren was born in Fliseryd on Nov 20, 1817, on July 1, 1841 he married Greta Sofia Magindotter, who was born in Fliseryd on july 22, 1823. They had 13 children.

Steve, perhaps we shall be able to collaborate on digging our ancestry. My e-address is: searcher@micron.net I'll have to look on my map and see where Fliseryd is. Who was your earliest found Cedergreen ancestor?

As mentioned, Jonas Peter Cedergren of Fliseryd. Fliseryd is approx 10 miles NW of Monsteras. I have found found a contemporary Cedergren born in Oland, with ties to Fliseryd, but nothing solid so far. Thanks for your reply.

DearJean S.
I'm 79 years old. My father Anders Olof was born in Sweden in 1882. His father, August Niclas(SP), was born circa 1852 on Oland (I think). This note is just off the top of my head.
I was alive and knew GrandPa for about 10 years before he died in Chicago in the 1930's. Obviously there are at least two generations between August N. and your Christina, and as a female she could hardly pass along the Cedergren name unless there were some very extraordinary circumstances at play. However, I wonder, was Cedergren a common name on Oland?
We always knew quite a bit about Grandma Cedergren, but Grandpa Cedergren's lineage was more vague. As a boy I heard he was with a circus and could jump over horses. I heard that someone had taken the name Cedergren for their own at some time in the past.
At any rate you've got me to thinking about this subject. If you want to follow up in more detail, please email me.
Sincerely, Eric Cedergren from Elmhurst, IL.

I'm researching an Andrew Cedergren who Emigrated from the island of Oland, Kalmar county. He left there in 1885 and went to Chicago, IL. He was married to Sophia and had two sons, Arvid and Tura, (born in Sweden) and two daughters, Sigrid and Elsa, (born in Illinois). My mothers mother was Sigrid.

Have you had any luck with your quest? I have a photo of a marker in Oaks Wood with these names. Did you send it to me back in 2004?
