Mr. Cederberg, a former member of Congress, was born in Bay City, MI on March 6, 1918 to the late Albin & Helen (Olson) Cederberg. He resided at The Villages in Florida where he died on Monday, April 17, 2006. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later worked as a manager of Nelson Manufacturing in Bay City. He was elected Mayor of Bay City in 1949, and elected to Congress in November 1952 where he served as a representative for 26 years, retiring in 1978. He was a Lobbyist in Washington, D.C., a member of Joppa Lodge No. 315, F & A.M., a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Bay City, and served as Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33rd Degree, honorary member of the Supreme Council in 1970. He was also inducted into the Bay City Central High School Hall of Fame.
Mr. Cederberg was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite "Peg" Cederberg, a sister, Charlotte Roth, and a brother, Robert Cederberg.
Survivors include his son, Thomas E. Cederberg of Bay City; his daughter, Marilyn A. (John) Warner of The Villages, FL; granddaughter, Jill Cederberg; brother-in-law, Howard Roth of Bay City; sister-in-law, Joan Cederberg of Saginaw, MI; nephew, Robert Cederberg, and his niece, Cynthia Cederberg.
A funeral and committal service were held for Mr. Cederberg on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home in Bay City, MI. He was buried in the Elm Lawn Cemetery.
