I am looking for a CEDARS that married a Martha COLLINS about 1878. In Aug 1879 she had a son in Neosho Co KS. Then in Jan 1880 she died of pneumonia. The Mortality Schedule for 1880 says she was a widow when she died. The 1880 census says the baby's father was born in IN. The baby was raised by his maternal grandparents Daniel and Catharine COLLINS. Seems the husband would be from the Montgomery Co IN families of CEDARS. The COLLINS' came to Neosho Co KS from Clark/Edgar Co IL

I'll keep an eye out for information on this family. I sounds like if he was born in Indiana, he would have to be part of tis family. This surname is not very common. Please keep my email address: barb@thomas.name and let's keep in touch.

I am a relative of the Cedars/Mosier you are looking for. There are record census for 1850 John Siders, 1860 John Ceders, 1870,1880, 1900 under John Cedars. John was born Nov 1, 1820, died 1909. Born in trenton NJ.Died in Waynetown, Montgomery Co, Indiana. He was a farmer. Married Mary Polly Mosier Feb 14, 1838 in Indiana. She was born in Maryland 10/13/1820. Died 10/23/1904 in Montgomer Co, Indiana. John's mother and father were born in NJ.
I am currently trying to find out more about them.

Im related thru John's son, George Washington Cedars, then his son, Burton 'Burt'Cedars who lived in Kokomo, and his son Robert E.V. Cedars, my father.

The William Mosier, married to Nancy may be Mary Polly Mosier's brother. I found the children of John and Mary to be:
Mary Jane b 1839
George Washington B 1850-51
Thomas J born 1841
Sarah born 1845
Willian N. born 1848

but there is a William Mosier listed in 1850 censes as living in Waynetown, Montgomery Co Ind. from Maryland and was a farmer. he was born 1816, so this would probably be Mary Polly's brother.

Hope this helps you a bit. Let me know if you find out more on their history, or any stories connected with them.
