I am attempting to locate any Cedars from Maryland. My grandfather was Harry Edward Cedar DOB?? he married Mary Malloy from California and they had two children Herbert Edward Cedar and Doris Cedar (Meggitt). Herbert lives in Maryland and Doris lives in Minnesota. Herbert had 10 children (Sharon, Michael, Kevin, Celeste, Kathy, Harry, Cynthia, Brian, Anne Marie and David. Doris had six children. I heard that when my grandfather entered the States his name may have been "Cozna" and changed to Cedar. If anyone has any information to this please let me know.

Classification: Query
Surnames: SEEDERS,CEDARS, SEDERS, SEADERS, SEDUS
The Seeders in Maryland go back to the 1700s. This has already been documented. Seeders, spelled different ways, seemed to begin here in Maryland. They traveled from there to NY,PA,KY,IL,IN,WV,LA. All along these states the SEEDERS name has diffent spelling. It all depended on the different dialects and the area of the country. The best tip on doing research is start wit the newest census and go backwards.
Right now I am researching this person. T.W.Sedars or T.W. Cedars.
Found this T. W. Cedars on the 1865 census in IL. Since I am researching all of the Seeders, is their anyone that has this family? T. W. Seders on the 1880 census was born in IL in 1848 and he ststea that both of his parents were born in KY and the name of his wife on the 1880 census is Mary C. born in IL. They have Thomas E.6 yrs and Mary J. 2 yrs.
The other T. W. Ccdars listed on the 1865 IL census was between 20 and 30 yrs and the oldest female was between 50 and 60 yrs. There was 3 males and 2 females listed, including the oldest. This family is living in Chester, Randolph County, IL.
