Hello. I'm starting my family tree and am looking for relatives of my grandfather, Gino Cecchini or Chichino from Fano, Italy (Pesaro). I know he immigrated to Canada via Northeastern U.S. and then settled in North Vancouver, Canada. My grandmother's name (his wife) was Elivra Rivelli, whom I believe was also from Novalara. Please contact me in you have any information. I only have my grandfather's passport to work from.

Many thanks!

My Grandmother family's last name is Cecchini. Our Cecchini family was also from Fano. I had a great uncle named Gino Cecchini, but he passed away as a teenager (this would have been in the 1920's or 30's). I know it's common for all first born Grandchildren to take the name of their Grandparents so maybe your Grandfather was a cousin to my family??? My family is from upstate New York. I wasn't aware that any of the family headed into Canada, but I do know that many of them emmigrated to Brazil, we still have family there. If you check fultonhistory.com you will find a handful of Cecchini's in new york...my great uncle Augie (who just passed away at 103) changed the spelling of his last name to Checkini in the 1970's, he was Gino's younger brother.

Thank you sooo much for your reply! I haven't checked my messages in a long time and just today I remembered to check and low and behold, there is your message dated today! What a coincidence....

I am working on our Cecchini family tree with a cousin who I will see soon and share your info with. I am planning to return to Fano this summer to take another look at the village records. I hope to contact you before that trip with either information or questions...

Thank you again for answering me!
