Sounds like my grandparents. The family moved to the Detroit area in Michigan in the 1920 or 30s. My father was Daniel Cecchini and was born in La Belle, PA. The siblings he had that I can recall were Mary, James, Carmella, Lucy. I thought there were about 9 children.

He was my great grandfather. His daughter, Marian, was my grandmother. From what I can tell, he came from Montegallo, Italy in July of 1902. He was born in Italy in 1878 and married Micchelina Stefonelli, although she is listed as Margaret in a census report, which is a little confusing. I don't have any information about her, other than her birth in Montegallo in 1888 and her death in Detroit in 1945. According to the 1930 census he was a sweeper in an auto factory in Detroit. Yes, they had a lot of kids: Marion, Niño, Anthony, Lucy, Carmella, Jenny and more.

Yes, he was called Daniel. It looks like he died in Florida in 1984. I added the information to my tree in case you want to check it out.

Nino was his middle name, his first name was Daniel. I'm his son Daniel Nino Cecchini, Jr.. He was called Nino by everyon in the family, never Dan or Daniel.

My mother is Nino's sister Marion's daughter, Mary Jane. I'm sure I met your father at one time or another when I was little, but I don't remember. I have been working on a family tree, but I don't have a lot of information about the Cecchini family in Italy. Do you know who Eugenio's parents were?

Are any of these Cecchini's coming from Casentino, Sant'Eusanio Forconese, Fossa, San Demetrio Ne' Vestini, province of L'Aquila?
We have a large Cecchini clan in Western PA. The last Cecchini in my ancestry that was born in Casentino was Guiseppi Cecchini (son of Giambattista and Vitantonia Ricciuti). I have ship manifests of Giuseppi and his brothers/cousins/uncles? coming over and back a few times. Apparently when my relatives left Casentino, some of their family settled in NY and CT which over the generations we lost touch with.
thanks
