One went to MA. And I know one son went to CA. Most of them had their names changed by the nuns to KARGUL. The one in MA got to keep the name as KARGOL.

My great grandfather was also a Michael Anton Kargol (born 1880) but was married to Anna Boda from Poreba Radlna, Poland which is only a few miles south of Tarnow. I know my Kargol family came from Galicia, on one document is listed Uherce, but I am not sure of the village or town.

The interesting thing is that one of Michael and Anna's children was born in New Britain, CT. So I always believed there is a family connection to CT. Be it Kargol or Boda I don't know.

The other thing is the names of the children of your Michael match many of my Michael's children and niece's and nephew's names and often names from family's match up, but they could also be regional, I guess. We also have the names John, Anthony, Joseph, Stanley, Frank and Julia being used in our Kargol family tree.

My Kargol's first immigrated to Luzerne, PA and Michael moved to Hamtramck, MI (just outside of Detroit) sometime around the 1920's. Michael's parents were Alexander and Mary KAREZEWSKI. Michael's siblings were Marie, Stanley, Antoinette (who went on to California) and Alexander. These are the ones I know who immigrated to the US. There were apparently others who remained in Poland.

Does any of this sound familiar to your family tree?

I do not know of any. But I will send this on to another person who is doing further investigations on the Kargol (ul) name. I myself do not have that name listed. If you have something you would like to add, please feel free to.

Sincerely,
Barb
