Hi, Mother Emily was a Ceaser from Salmonier / Burin, Newfoundland Canada. Her Grandfather moved to Boston in the 1800's. Any one whou would like to write me, please include ceaser in the subject line so I don't toss it out for fear of a virus !! Look forward to hearing from someone!

Funny that - My Mom is also Emily Ceaser
Please let me know if you think you're related to the Ceaser family line from Kilcross, Killead, Antrim, Ireland from at least 1793 - I think there is a whole other Ceaser line (where the name spelling has been recently changed to Ceaser) originating in the southern US states - I'm interested in the Irish Ceasers - any connections here?
Thanks

My father and his parents are from Boston. His father's name was William and his mother was Laura. I have been trying for a long time to find out more about my ancestors, but my grandparents are as far as I got. All I know is they came from Burin, so my dad tells me.

Hi John, Have you checked out the 1921 census for Salmonier? That's the area of Burin that my/our relatives lived in. It gives names of those who were alive then but it's under Seagor. It's definitely our family as the names are "William, Emily, Donald" etc. all family names that have come down through the past two generations. Also, I did find a 1935 census that had my mother, also an Emily, listed at 5 months old. I think your grandfather might be my great-uncle Bill who I, of course, never knew. I know my parents visited Boston in about 1960 when my sister Julie (Farewell) was about 5. What I will do, is send your email to my sister Jodi (Riggs-Power) and our Aunt Blanch who might be able to figure it out. The only living great-aunt I'm aware of is named Greta Abbott, she would be the oldest relative I have on the Ceaser side. I do know for sure that my great-uncle (or could even have been my mother's great uncle) Bill/William left for Boston many moons ago and started a life and family there. I will find out more through my sisters and maybe they will write to you too. To find the census, just search google.ca for Newfoundland 1921 census, there should be a link under the tabs at the top. I will send you a link if I get time to look for it. take care, cousin.

Re: Funny that - My Mom is also Emily Ceaser
Hi there, I have no idea; have not really worked at tracing our roots. I have not even gone back past 1921 where there is an online census of Newfoundland as part of a genweb project. Check it out (just do a google.ca search for 1921 Newfoundland Census) and look at the area known as Salmonier, Burin which is where my mom's folks landed at some point. There is also a 1935 census online somewhere as well. I do know the story is that at one point we were Catholic then suddenly we weren't. Even had a priest in the family.

Hi jacky,
I'm John Ceaser's (from above post) first cousin; his father and my father are brothers. I'd love it if you could provide any information that you may have found so far. This is my first real attempt to try to dig into the history of the family.
Are you still located in NewFoundland?
Can you trace at what point the name changed from Seagor to Ceaser? I'll try emailing you as well, but I thought I'd start by posting this.
Thanks.

Hi My name is Jodi and my sister is Jacky. There are also Janice and Julie. Our mother was Emily Ceaser from Salmonier Burin. I am still living here, as is my aunt Blanche(nee Ceaser), and uncle Calvin Ceaser. Our grandfather, Emily's (and her younger brother, Donald)father, was Donald Sr, who was lost at sea. Our grandmother later married Donald's brother Gordon, and another six children were born.(Calvin, William, Mary, Shirley, Blanche Clyde-who went by George). All are alive, with the exception of Emily. Almost all are in Ontario. Grandfather Donald was the son of Herbert Ceaser. There were also George, Emily, William, Jessica, Greta, John.
It was William and Herbert,I believe that left and went to Boston, where they lived until they died.
The Newfoundland census of 1921 lists our family as SEAGOR, but I believe this to be a communication error, and nothing more.

Hi there,
I am looking for information on a Julia Parol Ceaser (1891-1933) who married Gabriel Beazley from Burin, Newfoundland. Julia is my husband's great grandmother and we are having trouble finding any information on her decendants, or where her family is from. We can't even find information on who here parents are. As far as we know, Julia's family is from Salmonier or Whale Cove Newfoundland. Any information would be appreciated as we keep hitting a dead end.
