Was Harriet born in Ireland? I am looking for family of my gt. grandmother, Maria Cearns, born Tuam near Galway about 1864. Died Liverpool 1920. Married Henry Klitte from Bremen. My grandfather Peter was their first child. Became Cunard Captain.

Dear Angela,
I received your note about the Cearns family.
Harriet Arelia Cearns was born in England, to
to Robert Cearns and Mary Ellen (?); in 1884.
She could be related to your Maria. As I con-
tinue to search I will keep your name handy as
I hope you do mine! Thanks Wanda

Dear Wanda

Thank you for the message. Do you have an area for Harriet? I noticed that there were quite a few Cearns in Liverpool in the late 1800s. Have not managed to find out much about my Maria as yet because have only just found where she was born. Previously, she put only 'Ireland' on the census returns. During my research, I will certainly keep a look-out for Robert, Mary Ellen and Harriet.

Good luck,

Angela

I don't have a city in England on my grand-
mother's birth place. Oh to have listened when
I was younger!
Will keep in touch.

Dear Wanda

I'm afraid we all say the same thing. My mother's oldest sister knew almost everything about the family and I always meant to write it down. How I wish I had now. My mother was the youngest of the large family and didn't know very much about their history.

I hope to get to the London Record Office in the fairly near future and will keep a look-out for Harriet.

Best wishes,

Angela

Possible Harriet Cearns connection?

Hi Wanda

I was wondering if we have a connection. My Cearns info is poorly verified, so this is like looking for a needle in a haystack. My grandfather, Leonard Cearns was born in Spencer Nebraska in 1910 or 1911. His father was William Samuel Cearns, born in Ontario, Canada in 1880 (but I'm not betting on it!) William's father was Robert Samuel Cearns, supposedly born in Ireland.

I'm wondering if you Harriet was a relation of William Samuel's? The William Samuel branch seemed to cross over the Canada-US bordered several times, which is why I'm having such a hard time tracing them.

What do you think?

Your message gave me chills and I think Harriet Cearns may be your grandfather's relative.
Names seem to be passed down family lines.
My father was Leonard Michael Gray (Harriet's
son). I think my father may have been your
grandfathers cousin. Wouldn't that be exciting to find that out!
As I do more research I will keep your name
available to respond to.

My knowledge is that Harriet Arelia Cearns
was born March 30, 1884 in England. Her father
was Robert and Her mother was Mary Ellen ? They
could have moved to Canada before coming to
Nebraska where Harriet lived and met and married
George Gray.
