An updated list of sources for the book “History of the Carlock Family,” by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, can be found at the following site:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/carlock/messages/541.html

References to David GERLACH/CARLOCK (1674 - 1763), ancestor of both branches of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family can be found on pages 31 - 33, 50, 51, and 436 of the book.

References to Frederick CARLOCK/CARELOCK (1720 – 1792), ancestor of the Illinois branch of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family, can be found on pages 31 - 33, 50, 436, and 437. Frederick’s son David CARLOCK (ca. 1739 – after 6 Jan 1814), ancestor of the Illinois branch of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family, is apparently not mentioned in Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK’s book. David appears on the 1810 Warren Co., KY, tax list, and can be found in references related to road-building in Virginia and owning land in the area that is now Concord, NC.

Revolutionary War soldier Hanchrist CARLOCK (ca. 1715 – 1803), ancestor of the Oklahoma branch of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family, can be found on pages 31, 32, 34, 50, 92, 436, 488, and 613. Hanchrist’s son Lemuel CARLOCK (b. 1750, reportedly killed by Indians), can be found on pages 32 - 34, 436, and 437. Lemuel’s son John CARLOCK (1772 – 1833) can be found on pages 33, 396, and 437. John’s son George Washington CARLOCK/CARELOCK (1812 – 1862) can be found on pages 438 and 439. George’s son Luther (Carel/Carol) CARLOCK/CURLOCK/CEARLOCK and his family, including photographs, can be found on pages 438 – 440. Luther is the ancestor of the Oklahoma branches of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family.

Note that members of both the Illinois and Oklahoma branches of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family lived near each other in the Warren Co., KY, area in the early part of the 19th century. Also note that Lemuel CARLOCK’s (ancestor of the Oklahoma branch of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family) son Joseph CARLOCK (1780 – after 1823) was apparently closely associated with Henry CARLOCK (d. after 1804) of Rutherford Co., NC, and Campbell Co., TN, who is believed to have been a son of Frederick CARLOCK/CARELOCK, ancestor of the Illinois branch of the CEARLOCK and CURLOCK families.

Additional information with regard to the genealogy of both branches of the CEARLOCK/CURLOCK family can be found in the GERLACH report on my home page.
