I'm currently stumped on a relative's middle name and am working off a hand written copy of my family tree while comparing it to other trees on Ancestry.com. I am the granddaughter of Hillia Elizabeth Cearley. On the tree, her grandfather is listed as George Washington Cearley, whereas several trees have him listed as George William Cearley. Does anyone have any document that definitively shows for what the initial "W." stands?
Here is the information from the tree:
George Washington Cearley
B: 12/10/1850 - Union Co., Georgia
D: 12/15/1913 - Ballground, Georgia
Spouse: Hillia H. Brown
Related to that - several trees have Hillia Hulda Brown listed as Hillary "Hillia" Hulda Brown. Is there any document that shows that Hillia is a nickname for Hillary? Since my grandmother is named after her (Hillia's granddaughter) and my grandmother is a Hillia and not a Hillary, I'm curious. The only thing I've found that comes close is a census record, but the image is not clear and to me it looks more like a "Hillia" than a "Hillary"
Thanks in advance for your help!
