The researchers in my family are firmly convinced that the Cearleys of VA and NC sprang from the family of William and Mary Bowden Carley who were married in Boston by Cotton Mather in 1703, through their son William, b @ 1717. This family (William and Ann White Kerly) was in the MA Bay Colony by 1637. Their son, Capt Henry Kerley (Elizabeth White Kerley) may have been the progenitor of the Kearley lines in VA and NC as well as the Carlile family in Maine by 1685. Isn't there some direct descendant male in the Cearley or Kearley line who would like to know the origins of this family? If so, please, please, contact Bill Carley -
