My sister-n-law married a Cazalas and is wondering where the name came from. Thank you in advance for any help.

My Cazalas geneology is descended from Francois Cazalas who immigrated from Haute-Pyrrenes, France, to the New Orleans area in the early-mid 1800's.
I have alot ofinfo but I will need to find it.

Thank you for the information. I have not worked on this line at all but my sister-n-law is curious so I guess I need to do some for her. Anything you have will be appreciated. My brother-n-law was raised in Mobile, Alabama.

My brother-n-law was Roderick Cazalas (known as Captain Rod, he was a tug boat captain). I will have to ask my sister-n-law what his mother and fathers name was and what area of Mobile was he from. Are you from Mobile?

Hi Pete, Are you Ben's son in New Orleans? My Mom and I are finally starting to do some researching on her Cazalas bunch. Her parents were William and Edna Cazalas. Would love to talk to you.

Hi, My brother-n-law's name was Roderick Cazalas. I do believe their is a Aubrey somewhere in his family. I can check with my sister-n-law to make sure. He has a brother name, Randolph, James, and sisters, Charlotte, Aggie (I can't remember what her real name is) and another one that I can not remember her name either. There are quite a few Cazalas's in Mobile. Some no connection that they know of and the others close family. My sister-n-law has been trying to find the origin of the name, Cazalas, also, but no luck so far.

My father Emmett Cazalas(deceased)is from Mobile originally. From what I gather regarding our family ancestry which was reserched and compiled over 20 years ago by a cousin. The Cazalas name is French and the family came to Louisiana from region in France which is French Basque .If you google the name you will find the Cazalas name to be included in historical tidbits which seem to indicate that the Cazalas family served in Napolean's Army and may have been French Aristocrats.Google is a wonderful tool.
