Hi,
Maybe I can help. Are you a Caza? The thread is a bit confusing. Also, do you live in The UK?

Thank you for your response. My maternal grandmother was a Caza and I live in the US. The Caza family to whom I am related traces to St. Anicet, Quebec, Canada. From what I can determine, the original name was Lebeau and the "dit" name became Caza. Since originally posting, I have found the subject of this post, my great grandfather, was probably born Honore Caza and changed anglicized his name to Henry after arriving in the US (New York State). He was the son of Theodore Caza and Victoire Duheme. This is based on Canadian census records from 1861 and 1871. If there is a UK connection, I would be interested to learn it.

I can relate to your difficulties finding history about this family! I have been digging for information regarding my great grandmother Mabel Caza Rallis, daughter of Abraham Caza, who is the brother to your Henry. Large family, and it seems like almost all of the family that stems from the Henry and Abraham brothers was at one time or another in North Hudson, Essex County, New York. If you are actually still on here (it's been a few years since your post), there is a fabulous website devoted to Northern NY newspapers. The Caza name brought up 675 hits on these newspapers, and I was able to find out details about Abraham's family that I couldn't find anywhere else. http://news2.nnyln.net/essex-county/search.html takes you to the Essex County newspaper search site. http://news.nnyln.net/ has seven Northern New York counties to choose from.
Hopefully you're still on here! I'd love to hear from you!

Heather - the server appears to have dropped my reply. Thanks I was previously alerted to the site you reference and have found it useful. Cazas apparently split east and west (NY and Michigan /Minnesota). There are still a good number in the North Hudson, NY area but none have responded to my efforts to contact them. My mom was in touch with a couple until near the time she died in 2007. She was of the opinion th real source of info is St. Anicet in Quebec.
