Lorraine Bette Crawford Caylor .
Lorraine Bette Crawford Caylor, better known as “Bette”, age 87, of Erie, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at her residence lovingly surrounded by her family. Bette was born May 31, 1922 in Kane, Pa. She moved to Erie when she was 15 years old and graduated from Academy High School. Her “pride and faithful companion”, Mitzi Mae, remained her true joy in her life. Bette also enjoyed her “3 C’s” which were crosswords, crocheting and cooking. She also looked forward to Wednesdays, as her best friend for many years, Connie Sigrest, would come down and they would play cards most of the afternoon. Bette enjoyed many things in life. She and her husband loved to travel and did so for many years, taking frequent trips to different States. They tried to get to Florida every year and their last visit was in 2003. They would go to Sterling Heights, Mich. to visit their daughter, Lana and family for the Thanksgiving holiday. Her life continued with dedication to all her children. Love was always there. Her cooking gathered many to their home and her famous macaroni and cheese was requested for many special occasions. She avidly watched Wheel of Fortune and loved many soap operas. Many wonderful things can be said about this beautiful woman, but all who knew and loved her were touched by her in their own ways. Bette was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lee. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond E. Caylor; a son, Jeffrey V. Caylor of Erie; daughters, Kathy “Kate” Caylor of Hollywood, Fla., Lana Leppert (James) and Robbin Caylor all of Erie and Valerie Jordan (Kyle) of Bryan, Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Thursday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 11 a.m. A private interment will be held.
