LAKE PLACID — Theodore E. Cayea, 91, of Acorn Street, Lake Placid, passed away at his home Sunday, March 19, 2006.
He was born in Malone Feb. 2, 1915, the son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Durant) Cayea. He was married to Mary (Courtney) Cayea.
A skilled craftsman and carpenter, Ted took great pride in his accomplishments. He had worked on various camps and houses in the North Country. Ted was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Mr. Cayea was a member of the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time at the camp he built where he enjoyed boating, hunting and endless hours of working on camp projects.
Ted is survived by his wife, Mary, of Lake Placid; one son, Ted Cayea and his wife, Fayne, of Essex Junction, Vt.; one daughter, Ann Fitzgerald and her husband, Edward, of Lake Placid; one brother, Charles Dupraw of Jacksonville, Fla., and a sister, Dorothy LeClair and her husband, Carl, of Morrisonville. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Conan Fitzgerald, Sarah Cayea and Scott Cayea, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Marion Marvin, and two brothers, Fabian Cayea and Vincent Cayea, all died earlier.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Bible vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. and an American Legion Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. Joseph Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in May. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service in his memory.
