Ellenburg — Julia Grace Cayea, 83, of Route 11 in Ellenburg, passed away in the loving arms of her family on March 2, 2001.
She was born in Ellenburg Center on Nov. 22, 1917, the daughter of William and Mahalie (Shaw) Gregory.
She was married to Lawrence Cayea, who predeceased her on Oct. 13, 1966.
Mrs. Cayea is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Donald Jabaut of Plattsburgh, Wanda and David Paliani of Rochester and Debra and Douglas Grogan of Ellenburg; four sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Leona Cayea of North Bangor, Terry and Margaret Cayea of Ellenburg, Lawrence and Sharon Cayea of Ellenburg and Gary and Martha Cayea of Ellenburg; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Gregory of Rochester; and two sisters, Laura Daignault of Cleveland, Ohio, and Helen Ensch of Cleveland, Ohio.
Those that preceded in death besides her husband were her parents and two sisters, Gertrude Thibeau and Alice Gregory.
Mrs. Cayea was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2001, in St. Edmund’s Church with Rev. Joseph Trombley officiating. Burial will take place at St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg in the spring.
Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
