Surnames: Caydzien
My name is Ian Stewart, my dad and aunt's mother, was named FLORA Campbell Caydzien before she married my Grandfather.

The unusual and rare surname Caydzien had intrigued my father and I for the last few years.

Searches found two distinct family lines of the CAYDZIEN family in Scotland, one in and around Glasgow and the other in and around Edinburgh. My research has shown that our line is the Edinburgh side.

Through compiling a family tree, I successfully traced OUR Caydzien family back to the wedding of JOHN Caydzien (my great, great, great grandfather) and Jane/Jean Ferrier in 1827, Edinburgh.

We are aware that in the early 1900's two brothers - GEORGE Caydzien and JOHN Murray Caydzien (cousins of my great, grandfather) emigrated to CANADA.

We are also aware that in 1858, brother and sister - WILLIAM and JANE and then, in 1860 husband and wife - JAMES and Jessie - all emigrated to NEW ZEALAND. (brothers and sister of my great, great grandfather)

I am currently aware of two living members of the CAYDZIEN family that live in BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA. To whom i intend to send letters.

Do you know of anyone else with this surname.
Do you have any ancestors that share this surname.

I look forward to your interest
Ian

Long awaited breakthroughs....

To any interested persons,

Today, I "googled" Caydzien, which i've done occasionally
for the last few years.

For the first time in a while, a few new sites appeared.

Including, Dublin Census 1911 - George Caydzien and two daughters - (sisters of the two brothers - John and George who emigrated to Canada)

Additionally, an Enthusiast called Linton Love has already replied regarding a Family Site - www.moyer-meyer-genealogy.com which appears to possible mention the son of either John or George - "Bruce George Caydzien".

Bruce had a daughter Beverly, born 1947 with Jacqueline Honsberger.

Could that be the same person who served in WW2 in the Royal Canadian Air Force - "George B Caydzien"

The mystery continues.

Hi Ian
Whilst visiting Scotland last month, with my cousin Alison Ross, she found a connection to George Caydzien who m. Alison Ann Horn[e].

My cousin is not particularly computer literate, so was hoping I may be able to contact you for a snail mail address.

Whilst I live in Australia, if you send me the address I'll phone Alison and she can write to you.

look forward to hearing from you,
regards
Joy Roy

Hi Ian,
I phoned Alison (in London) tonight and gave her your address.

Alison will write to you with the details. I did assist with some of the searching, I left all the notes with her.

I relate to Alison on the Smith side, but the Horn family connect to her Ross family.

thanks for the quick response
regards
Joy
