Are you looking for a Mary - Ann Cawkwell - as in maiden name Cawkwell. I have one listed as the daughter of Thomas Cawkwell. She was born round about 1866 - I found this family on 1881 Census living in Yorkshire. Thomas Cawkwell born 1845 married Ellen Summers Richardson mother of John Summers Richardon (illigitimate I think) who was my husbands g.grandfather. In 1901 Census Thomas Cawkwell was living with his stepson JohnRichardson in Tadcaster with one of his other children. Mary- Ann Cawkwell was the first of seven half-siblings to John Richardson. Have only just stumbled on this part of our family tree - so anyone else who can help -please contact me

Hi Kathryn,
If your grandfather was John Hinsley (1927-1984) and your great grandfather and gg-grandfather were both named John Hinsley, I believe that your ggg-grandmother and my ggg-grandfather John Cawkwell (1805-57) were brother and sister! If you are still searching and you can provide an address i will be able to forward to you the Cawkwell family tree that I have drawn back to 1677.

Hi Kathryn,
I have an Ann Cawkwell christened 27 Oct 1809 in Thorne, Yorkshire which is about 7 miles from Snaith and also Carlton. Ann and John Hinsley appear on the 1861 and 1871 Census where Ann says she was born in Calrton. If we can establish that my Ann is the one who you have as being married; I have her parents and a further 5 generations back to the early 1600s. FYI my wife is a descendent of Ann's brother Barnabas b. 1824 in Thorne.

Hi, I am researching my mother in law's relatives Cawkwell from South Yorkshire. I have found a James Cawkwell, or William James Cawkwell b. 1876. I am wondering if your Cawkwell had a brother that could have been his relative. James married and had at least 6 kids, but his wife died in 1914. I am trying to find anything about the past Cawkwells and also looking for present day. If you could be of any help I would appreciate it. Thanks, Karen
