Private John L. Cawhorn or Cochran-Civil War

Private John L. Cawhorn or Cochran-Civil War

I recently ordered a copy of my GGG-Grandfather's General Court Martial file (Civil War) and John's court martial file was included. He served with the 5th MO Militia. Apparently, he was found guilty of stealing $1 worth of coffee. He was sentenced to 1 day's confinement on bread and water, forfeited $1 pay and was returned to duty. An interesting sidenote is that his widow filed for his pension, giving their last name as Cochran. (Her name was Frances L.) If any descendants of his would like a copy of his file, I can email it to them. I am not a member of this list so you will have to contact me directly at 1727062218@earthlink.net or through this message board.

Do you have a record of any children for John and Frances?

I'm sorry but I don't have any info, other than the court martial file. I am not related to this man.

Good luck!
Anita

John L. Cawhorn/Cochran was my husband's great-great-grandfather. We would love to see a copy of the file you have if it is still available. I can be contacted through this list or email to mdulin@yahoo.com. Thanks!
