Re: Searching for other Caw Family Connection to Zanesville,OH
I'll share what I have....but you will need to verify the early part as I do not have solid sources before their arrival in OH. The first Caw in Muskingum Co., to my knowledge, was James Caw (b. 11 Jun 1786 Tibbermore, Perth, Scotland, d. before 1862 Muskingum Co. OH). Acc. to the death certificate of a son, he was married to Martha Jane Unk., who was said to have been b. 1795, ENG or Scotland, d. <1850> OH. One source lists the marriage date as 1821, Perth, Scotland. In any case, James came to Muskingum Co. in the 1820s and settled in Falls Twp., where many of his descendants remained for sev. generations. There is a "declaration of intent to naturalize" for James from 1828, at the Muskingum Co. courthouse. James b. 1786 is said in LDS to have been the son of Robert Caw b. <1760> and Elizabeth Scrimgeour b. <1762>, but that info. is not sourced. Children of James and Martha Jane:
1. Jane (b. 1821 Scotland?, d. 19 Aug 1898 Muskingum, OH) Married Henry Taylor (b. 1811 Hampshire ENG, d. 27 Nov 1901, Zanesville, Muskingum OH). This is my connection to the Caws. I have a lot of the descendancy if anyone is interested. 2. Mary (b. 1823, d. ?) 2. Male infant, b. 1825 3. James J. (b. 25/27 Sep 1827 Muskingum Co, d. 21 Jan 1911 Zanesville, Muskingum OH). Farmer. On 10 Mar 1852 m. Sarah Sunderland (b. 22 Jan 1831 OH, d. 20 Mar 1914 Muskingum OH). James was briefly a soldier in the Civil War (part of 1864, private, Co. D 159th OH Infantry). Acc. to some charts he and Sarah had at least 11 children, including Edward. 4. Isaac W.(b. 19 Feb 1831/35? Muskingum Co OH, d. 24 Mar 1911 Newark, Licking Co OH, bur Greenwood Cem, Zanesville). Living in Perry Twp. Muskingum in 1860. Married #1 Susan Unk., feb 1860 and #2 Mary J. in 1893. Farmer, then car inspector for the B & O RR from the 1880s. 5. William (b. Jan 1837 Muskingum Co, d. 10 Feb 1918, Muskingum Co?) In the 1860 census, William is living in Perry Twp., Muskingum with a "Catharine" b. <1838>. 6. Sarah Caw (b. 1844 OH, d. ?) Many Caws appear to be buried in Greenwood Cem., Muskingum Co.

Re: Searching for other Caw Family Connection to Zanesville,OH
My great great grandmother Susan Caw apparently married William Smith and had a child named Inez Smith who married my grandfather James Garfield Forker. If anybody has information or photos or any history about this side of my family I would be quite grateful to hear it. My father Bernie Forker told me that my middle name is from Susan Caw. She is descended from the line that goes back to Robert Caw in Perth, before James. Any information on these or other family lines would be very appreciated.

My parents left the area before I was born and we only got back for rare visits. My grandmother on mother's side was a Klein/Dickerson. She married a Clift.
