I just stumbled on your post -- never got an alert about it. Tell me more about your Anna Cavagnaro. The Anna in my grandmother's family was born in S. Bethlehem PA. The family returned to Italy in about 1900, emigrated again to NYC in 1903/1904 and settled in Brooklyn NY in about 1910 (doing this from memory so that last date might be off a little). Are your Anna and mine the same? I've been hoping descendants would turn up -- have found all in the family except Anna and her sister Adele.

Dear J. Torre, I am Anna's granddaughter. My mother is Elaine. Adele is my great aunt, and the surviving daughter is Harriet. All of this matchs with the family tree you posted. I think we have the same Anna. It seems we are family. My email is awink0714@q.com. Dorothy

Hi,
I found a newpaper article about John and Henry Cavagnero. Could these be your people?

A BARROOM BRAWL

One Man Badly Injured and Several Others Wounded

Stockton, January 21. - Last night a shooting affray occurred at the saloon of John Cavagnero, in Comanche, Calaveras county, in which one man was probably mortally wounded and others received wounds of a very serious nature. Robert T. Pope, Thomas A. Pope, Charles Brannerk (sic) and a man named Wermath, all residents of this county and living near Lodi, became drunk and boisterous and endeavored to run the town. Before the shooting they had engaged in a free fight in Cavagnero's place. A brother of the proprietor quieted the drunken crowd and got them into the street. Furniture, windows and glasses were demolished. Some on in the crowd yelled "Look out! he is going to shoot!" and then Brannerk rushed in with a shotgun and, leveling it at Henry Cavagnero, exclaimed: "Shall I shoot the ---- of a ----?" and fired. The charge entered Cavagnero's neck and the back part of his head. He was brought to Stockton this afternoon and boarded the steamer for San Francisco to receive medical assistance. Michael Fox received a charge in the face from a shotgun. Seven or eight shots entered his face and two went through the bridge of his nose. The two Popes escaped throught the chapparal, although hotly pursued, and came to this city and surrendered themselves to the Sheriff. Robert Pope was suffering from a wound on the top of the head by a pistol ball which had struck the head and glanced off, making only a scalp wound. The other Pope is uninjured. Deputy Sheriff Atwood returned this evening with Brannerk and locked him up. The prisoners were visited by a Chronicle reporter, but they declined to talk.

Not sure if there is any connection, but my Grandfather's name was Victor Joseph Cavagnaro, and he had a sister named Amelia and brother John. The name Rosey Dondero sounds so familiar. They lived on Staten Island, NY
