I don't know if Henry Casazza still checks these boards. However, I do know that his Andrea Gardella married Rosa Corsiglia.

With surnames Gardella and Barbieri, your people could very likely be from the province of Genoa towns of Lorsica, Neirone, or Montebruno. Civil records there begin in 1865. If you have any family events in Italy after that date (e.g., birth of a younger sibling of Andrea.), you could write to the towns for a record. Or, for Montebruno, you can search yourself via Family History Library microfilms. They might even have been digitized on familysearch.org! I haven't checked for a couple of years.

Family search has the (in Italian) marriage banns, marriage records and death indices from 1866 forward for Neirone under the regional administration office in Chiavari that you can browse for free. Other other comune/Frazione in the region have some info available also.

Ancestry has more (browseable)records, including birth, but you will need to pay to access the "Italy" part of the databases.

Unfortunately, neither have the church records which would take you further back.

Good luck,
