Trying to piece together the family of William Presley Owens and Pernecie Paralee Putman. They were my gg-grandparents. Their daughter Lillie Lucinda “Ma” Owens married Richard Dixon Cathcart. Their son, Willis Owens Cathcart, Sr. was my grandfather.

Lived in Abbeville and Laurens Counties of S.C.

Info shows Paralee Putman was daughter of Daniel Putman and Lucinda Moore, granddaughter of Robertson Moore and Irene Keziah Garrett.

I find conflicting info on William Presley Owens. All info shows Malinda Thomas and William Owens as parents. Malinda was daughter of Reuben Thomas and Lavinia Putman.

My conflict is ** William Owens **.
1. LDS shows parents as William Owings and Mary Robertson, grandson of Richard Owings and Nancy Campbell.

2. Other info shows parents as Gideon Owens and Elizabeth Putman, grandson of Pressley Owens and Margaret Putman.

I’m inclined to believe #2 is correct due to the several Owens, Putman relations and the recurring use of the name, Pressley.

Would appreciate any assistance.
