My family came from a small town in Sicily called Vita. There are several Leonardo Catalano's in my family tree and the name Leonardo comes from the Modica family, who resided in Vita but were originally from Modica, in Sicily. I do not think that we are related, but if you come across anyone named Catalano decended from Vita roots, in Sicily, I would appreciate hearing from them.
Good luck in your search.

Thank You for answering, it is greatly appreciated. If I do come across any Catalano's with vita roots I will surely let you know. If you come across any Catalano's from Catania please let me know. Once again Thank you. It would be great to find a relative, time will tell.

Re: Catalano Surname Italy to South New Jersey
My grandmother Lousia Catalano was the sister of Salvatore Catalano. She and three of her children including my father Donato Mazzafra came to Philadelphia in 1920. Salvatore Catalano resided in South Philadelphia while my father's family resided in Northeast Philadelphia. I knew Joseph (Joe) and his sister Anna.
