Hi!!! Do you know where the Catalano's are from in Italy? I also have Catalano's in my family. They came to America in the mid to late 1800's. They started in New York and ended up in Grand Junction, CO. As far as I know, they come from Cosenza, Italy.
Let me know....
Thanks!!!
Debbie

My grandfather emigrated to NY in 1912, and came from a town near Naples called Pietroccina. All the family settled near NY. It seems like Catalanos came from Sicily also.

You are correct - my grandfather (Joseph) came over from Sicily with his wife, Angelina, probably sometime in the 1920's. I am just beginning my family history search so that is the extent of detail I have so far concerning my Italian roots.
I do know that they came in through NY and settled in northern NJ, but since my father (Salvatore) died in 72 we have lost touch with his side of the family. Anyone out there with any general information, please post a message - I will check back regularly.
Thanks!

Although I lost touch with my father's side of the family following his death in 1972, it is possible that there could be a connectin. He had a sister, Angelina, who ended up somewhere in CA. I have no memory of this aunt, I believe she left the east coast a minimum of 30 years ago. She may have "americanized" the name to Angela but unless that is her maiden name it wouldn't be the same person. No Joe that I know of.

Thanks for your reply - do you know the approximate timetable? I just assumed my grandparents came over around 1920s give or take because my father was born here in the early 30's.
One of these days I plan to get downtown (DC) to look up the passenger lists, census - whatever I can find at the Archives. I think I've exhausted the online records which are scant to say the least.
