Does anyone have any info about Rachel Cassaday? She is my husband's 4th great grandmother. The only info I have is that she was born in 1803 in Bridgeton, Cumberland, NJ and died in 1869 in Alliance, Stark, OH. She married Watson Waithman 22 Mar 1822 in Dennis Twp., Cape May, NJ. I know of 2 children, John Peterson Waithman (my husband's line) and Thomas P Waithman.

James Cassady, b. 1808, Randolph, NC, USA

This name is spelled so many ways depending on the census so thought I would cut and paste my post on the Cassady thread in case someone here has info that might help me.

I am looking for any information on James Cassady, b 1808 in Randolph County, NC - son of John and Elizabeth Cassady - both born in Ireland. James married Dicy Page and they had at least 5 children - John, Benjamin, Martha Jane, Calvin Jackson, and Loyd Alexander. The youngest, Loyd, was born around 1843. I am unable to locate James in the 1840 census. In the 1850 census his two youngest children (spelled Casady on this census) are in Washington County, LA with a man by the name of Israel Pierce. James' dad's (John) will dated 1848 states that James is at that time deceased the 5 children named are living in New Orleans. There is no mention of their mother Dicy or who they are living with.

Loyd Alexander is my ggg grandfather - he was killed in a river boat accident on the Arkansas River around 1870, when my gg grandfather was only 6 so info that has been passed down on the family is sketchy at best.

I am looking for any info on where James and Dicy were in 1840 and when and where they died. Also if anyone has any info on Israel Pierce and/or his wife Jane, that might prove to be useful as well.

Thank you! I'm taking my grandfather (Robert Cassaday) up to Battleground, IN to visit his mother's grave and visit some childhood points of interest in a couple of weeks. I wanted to give him more information on his ancestry since his father left around 1934 and didn't come back into his life until about 1976. So, he didn't know most of that side of his family.

Your information should be very helpful!

I have some information on that Cassaday family. I think the James you are referring to was married to Sarah Fox. I believe they are buried in the old Brookville cemetery, Brookville, Indiana. Thier son James L Cassaday born 1850 is the one buried in Riverside cemetery, Andrews Indiana. He was married to Sarah Ann MaGee. Feel free to contact me at RCASS99831@aol.com for more info.
Looking for any information on Jacob, who was father to Mary Casady born abt. 1895 or prior to. Mary was daughter of Nancy Jane Starks. On Mary's death certificate it has her father as being Jacob Casaday. Although Mary at different times used surnames of Kirkpatrick and Kennedy along with Casaday. Her mother Nancy Jane was married to a Thomas Kirkpatrick May of 1895 in Highland County, Virginia. So uncertain of Mary's correct birth date. Mary's married name was Mary Yates. She died in Harrison County, West Virginia in 1950. Any help with this puzzle would be appreciated.

William H. Cassaday 1825-1893?

I am trying to determine if a W. H. Cassaday in the Santa Cruz County 1860 census and again in the Glenn County California 1880 census is my g-g-g-grandfather. I know that his name is William Horace Cassaday (with alternate spellings), that he was born around 1825 in Tennessee. He married Artimacy Wilkerson in 1850, came to Salt Lake City in 1852 and headed to California in 1853. If anyone knows anything about any of this, please respond. Thanks.

James & Martha Cassaday

In a 1860 Tx census Jas M Cassaday and Martha Cassaday are listed in Division Hill Tx. Their children are listed : John , Jas ( James) R, E.A ( Elizabeth), Martha M, Jemima , David J.

I believe this to be the same family from the 1850 Illinois census of James M Casady and Martha. In this one the oldest daughter Mary is listed whereas the 3 youngest above are not. Mary , John, James, Elizabeth and Marhta M., were all born in Illinois.

I know this to be my family and they moved on to Texas during or after civil war. They were on the confederate side I do believe.

The father James M was born in Kentucky abt 1819 and his wife Martha born in 1819 in N. or S. Carolina. I have seen both listed. The ages and names match in these two census'. Any one tracing this family also?

I have quite a bit of info to share on descendents if anyone makes the connection. Would love to hear from you.
Thanks
Susan

My name is Deb (Jesse) Adolphson. My line goes Sheila (Hartley) Jesse - Martin Hartley - Howard Hartley - Samuel E. Hartley and Sarah Ann Baylor. Sarah's sister Catherine Baylor Devore m Thomas Oney Cassaday 9 Nov 1854 (his second marriage and hers too) He and his first wife Elizabeth Harvy had 11 children: William Lawman, John Miller, Massa Ann Margaret, Sarah Jane, Benoney, Hetha Amelia, Harriet Matilda, Thomas Jefferson, Helen Mary, Hannah Eliza and Emeline. William, Sarah Jane, Hannah, Emeline and Elizabeth had died by 1853. Fall of 1834 family moved to Ill near Pekin. Thomas died in Fairbury. Catherine and Sarah Ann's brothers Darius and Joseph Benson each married one o Thomas' daughters. Darius married Harriet and Joseph married Hetha (we think). Our information comes from an article that ws in Sarah Baylor Hartley's family bible. It was a narrative on Thomas Oney Cassaday's life published in the Western Christian Advocate (we htink). He died 7 Jun 1880. We also have a handwritten note from one of Darius' granddaughters, Bonnie or Mina. My email is limited access at the library at genjesse@yahoo.com or if you want copies via snail mail, let me know and I'll send them.
