Looking for information regarding Sallie Cary, daughter of Dr. Nathaniel R. Cary, Major, 39th Virginia Infantry and Susan Fisher of Eastville, Virginia. She lived at Holly Brook during the Civil War and later, after the Federal occupation of the Eastern Shore, escaped with her mother to Liberty, Virginia. After the war, she returned to the Eastern Shore and attended school in Drummondtown. She married Professor William S. Graves of Bedford County in 1883. She is also listed as Sarah Elizabeth Smith Cary. She died in 1937 in Bedfrod, Virginia but not before she wrote of her experiences of running the blockade during the Civil War. I am searching for those writings.
