I have a letter dated March 23, 1919 from Mrs. Clarence (Fannie) Cartwright to Mr. Edward Winters. It reads:
"Dear Mr. Winters:-
This will show you the connection between Thomas G. Cartwright and my husband's father, Benjamin Cartwright. Thomas was the son of Anderson and Benjamin was the son of Edward. Anderson and Edward were brothers, and Thomas and Benjamin were first cousins.
There are only two first cousins of Mrs. Tooker living on the island, who were related to her father.
Very truly,
Fannie Cartwright"
End of letter
I'm researching a Winters family. Isaac Winters' daughter, Mary Augusta Winters married Thomas G. Cartwright. Their daughter Lilla married William Wallace Tooker
,pharmacist in Sag Harbor. Mary Augusta Winters worked a sampler which hangs in the John Jermain Library in Sag Harbor.
Who Was the father of Anderson Cartwright?
