John Carson was born 1806 in Kilglass Parish, County Longford, Ireland. After retiring from the 65th regiment in 1845, he emigrated to Augusta Twp.[Prescott], Grenville Co., Ontario, Canada.

He had a sister, Susan Carson b. 1799 who married James Leavy. They were in Rhode Island by 1831, Mass. by 1850 and Wisconsin by 1860.

He had a brother, George Carson. The following information about George is from "The Boston Pilot" and dated 3/3/1849. It was found under the title "Missing Friends": George Carson, Carrickboy, Parish of Legan [Kilglass], Co. Longford. When last heard of (1830) he was in Granby [Quebec] Canada.
