Outstanding! I have your Samuel (Son of Randolph) in my tree, as well as Mary Ann, and all the other children that we are aware of. This Samuel’s date of birth is 1819 per the 1860 US Census. His death is confirmed as July 1879 per an obit we located.
Samuel (1819-1879) had some other children we are aware of, John 1846, Joseph 1852, Nathan D 1855, and Samuel Edwin 1862.
We see his daughter Mary Ann Carrington (1848-1889) as well. Mary Ann was age 12 in the 1860 US Census. We’ve not yet done much research on the family of Randolph as of yet, but we will soon. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface into the Missouri line. We do know that Mary Ann had at least 7 children, and was married to a James Mosley.
Samuel (1819-1879) is my 1st cousin 5 times removed, and Mary Ann is my 2nd cousin 4 times removed. I have know idea what that makes us?!?!? cousins I guess... :)
What is interesting is there are two related groups of Carringtons that converged on Missouri at different times. The primary group was the family of Randolph, and a later arrival was via the Indiana branch of Thomas. Some of Thomas' children scattered over Illinois, Iowa, and then a few arrived in Missouri. There is a Lewis Sampy Carrington (1867-1941) who was a grandchild of Thomas (1782-1874). Lewis Sampy was born in Missouri. He has two children, Omar S and Jesse Britton who were also born in Missouri. This family eventually migrated on into Oklahoma.
We are presently working on the family of Timothy 1789-1856. This Timothy was Randolph and Thomas’ brother. He remained in Kentucky and there are several branches from him.
If you are in contact with any Carrington’s in Missouri, please let them know we are undertaking this monumental research work. The more people who know of this work the more accurate and precise it shall be.
Did you ever meet your great grand mother Mary Ann? I had the pleasure of knowing one of my great grandmothers. She was born in 1886 and passed in 1984. I remember a number of stories she told. We still have the Kentucky long rifle dated to about 1846(ish) that her father owned.
