Hi, all,

I've been intrigued for a while by the following excerpt from a book concerning the history of St. Jerome's church in Fancy Farm, KY:

(Editor's Note: In a letter from William C. Morton, dated Apr 12, 1985, he wrote: "...by organizing and commenting on the known facts I believe that I have presented predominant and ample evidence that Mary Harriett (m. Stanislaus Toon in 1828), Stanislaus, John I. (m. Ann Montgomery in 1817), Cornelius (m. Teresa O'Bryan in 1823), Henry (m. Lucy Reed in 1831), and Perdelia (m. William Toon in 1829) were brothers and sisters to one another." The parents of these six children were Henry & Susanna Carrico of Charles County, MD. by William C. Morton San Francisco, CA

The Cornelius mentioned here is my g-g-g-g grandfather.

I wonder what evidence Mr. Morton refers to in making the assertion that Henry is Cornelius' father?

In baptism records for St. Mary's in Charles Co., MD which were researched by Linda Boorom, only John and Perdelia show up as Henry and Susanna's children. There is a gap in records during 1798, which would be Cornelius' birth year. Maybe Mr. Morton had access to these missing records?

Curious if anyone else knows more about this.

Thanks,

Chris Carrico

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question. I don't find anything to document the identity of Cornelius's parent's, either.

I'm writing just to point out that "John I." is really "John S." and that he's "John Stanislaus," so these are one person, not two:

This mistake doesn't exactly bolster Morton's credibiliity.
