Do you suppose this Charles H. Carnahan is the same Charles H. Carnahan listed in the 1850 census of Hancock, Illinois with George S. Carnahan and Eliza J. ????????? The age would be right but my goodness, there could be several Charles H. Carnahan's out there.....<g>.

Civil War Vet Collars Thief In Loop Movie
Charles H. Carnahan of Washington, an 85 year old civil war veteran, yesterday pursued and captured a pickpocket who had robbed him of a pocketbook containing $40 in the Oriental theater. Carnahan is of diminutive stature, being about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, while his prisoner, Ben Berger, 36 years old, 3815 West 13th street, is a large man weighing about 175 pounds.
Carnahan, who is in Chicago visiting his son, Robert W. Carnahan, 722 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, was in an aisle of the Theater when he was jostled by a man, and immediately he discovered that his pocketbook was gone. He saw Berger heading for the door and started in pursuit, collaring Berger as he reached the lobby. Berger, in his haste to escape, had dropped Carnahan's bank book, attracting the attention of an usher, who ran to Carnahan's assistanced with Ed. E. O'Donnell, the manager.
O'Donnell and two ushers held Berger until the police arrived and locked him up at the Central station.
